Swedish Meatballs

With the motivation of Julie & Julia I thought it was time to take onĀ  some cooking of my own. I enjoy cooking new recipes and eating tasty foods. Last night I made meatballs. I didn’t make them totally from scratch, I cheated on the gravy and purchased the meatballs from Findley Market last week, oh and the recipe I was following, well I had to change it up a little also. I used:

  • 2 jars of beef gravy
  • 12 meatballs
  • sour cream
  • mushrooms and onions
  • all spice and black pepper

I must say that I LOVE sauteed mushrooms! After I browned the balls for a few minutes, only because I hadn’t realized the many hours it was supposed to cook in the slow cooker, I stuck them in the gravy with onion and mushrooms, the spices were thrown in and it simmered on LOW for a couple hours. The only change I could have added was different type of meatball, so watch out when selecting! The recipe I tried to follow can be found here. Don’t be afraid to change it up a little to fit your tastes, more pepper or add salt.
