I just checked on the beef and it seems kind of rough. I’m only into the first hour of cooking in the oven @ 325, although I’ve turned it down to 315. Julia says to adjust the temp so it simmers slowly.
The smell is delightful! If it’s not eatable then I will put the pot in the center of the table and use it a potpourri for a couple of weeks.
I try to read ahead, I’ve found this to helpful when cooking. Typically I’m not confronted with two additional recipes while working on one. All those directions on the boxes seem pretty simple, this is whole new playing ground for me. At one point I had to look up when to add the diced carrots and onions, I couldn’t see when they were supposed to be added. In the recipe there is a lot of ‘saute and move’, I think I might have sauteed an English muffin right into the broth, no one will know, isn’t the right Julia? The term casserole threw me off a couple of times. I have a different idea of a casserole and it doesn’t involve a chili pot.
UPDATE: tasted by Noah age 7 years and he said “it’s awesome”. I’m satisfied!
