‘an eater’s manifesto’

I picked up In Defense of Food once again, happened upon it in the library next to some Steven Hawking books, which I found odd. I flipped it open and read a little about the creation of our food ideas in America. I’ve been experimenting with cooking more and found that I battle with the idea of savoring and allowing myself to enjoy food. I’m tired of feeling guilty about eating and I want to allow myself to enjoy foods within reason of course. I want to eat foods that are natural and purchase foods that don’t come from a box. Packaging of foods really frustrates me (anyway off topic). I’ve made it a point to purchase butter, not margarine and I use bacon fat to grease pans, not manufactured oils. I’m always looking for small ways to improve food, not diets, not ‘low’ items, or quick and easy meal recipes, simple enjoyable acts that can add depth to my kitchen and table experience. At this point, if I were a blogger, I would ask for recommendations or tips that have worked for you, but we all know Daniel is the only one reading this and he’ll be home at 6.
